MagicX has turned its attention to a new gaming handheld after releasing the One 35 last week. For context, less than a month has passed since the company introduced a translucent green version of the Zero 40 globally (curr. $89.99 on Amazon). Now, MagicX has returned to the Retro 45, which it first teased in August.
Two months on and MagicX has rebranded the device as the One Retro 45. The Allwinner chipset it mentioned in August has been swapped for the MediaTek Helio G85 too. Already powering the One 35, the Helio G85 contains two Cortex-A75 and six Cortex-A55 CPU cores with a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU. Moreover, MagicX has decided to complement the Helio G85 with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
Also, the One Retro 45 will pack a 4.5-inch display that resolves at 1,440 x 1,080 pixels, as well as controls aimed at consoles with six-button layouts like the Sega Genesis (Mega Drive), Sega Saturn and the Nintendo 64, among others. Currently, MagicX hopes to launch the One Retro 45 for around $95. Previously, the company indicated that the device would be ready for a December 2025 release. However, it remains to be seen whether that is still the case.
