The MCON magnetic controller is now available to pre-order ahead of its 2026 release

MCON is a magnetic controller that has been in development for a while. Designed as a compact controller for smartphones, it attaches to devices with built-in magnets such as the iPhone 12 and newer, the HMD Skyline, and the Pixel 10 series. It also comes with an adapter for devices without built-in magnets.

After more than a year since it was first announced and over nine months of being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, the controller is available to pre-order. Priced at $149.99 and available in Day (White) and Night (Black), MCON is available to pre-order now. There's a $5 discount if you pre-order now, but the product page says there's limited stock available. Shipping will begin in mid-January on a “first-come, first-shipped basis”.

MCON has a small form factor like the 8BitDo SN30 Pro (available on Amazon for $44.99); however, it packs some impressive features, such as full-size GameSir Mag-Res joysticks, Hall Effect triggers, a gyroscope, and deployable grips for long gaming sessions.

The MCON attaches to the back of a phone and can be used in portrait and landscape modes. It can be used to play mobile games with controller support. It also supports emulators and cloud streaming services. MCON has a 500mAh battery capacity that provides over 15 hours of gameplay on a single charge. It charges via a USB-C port, which can also be used to connect it to a device for wired mode.

MCON connects via Bluetooth, and according to the spec sheet, it can be paired to up to three devices. There's also an optional dock that connects to a phone via USB-C and lets the controller be used in 2.4GHz mode. The dock, which costs $69, has an HDMI output port capable of outputting in 4K at 60fps. It also has a USB-C port with support for up to 65W fast charging.

Another accessory is the MCON Key Cast, which has a USB-C connector on one end and an HDMI input port on the other end. The $29.99 dongle allows users to connect their phone to a display with an HDMI port at up to 4K at 60Hz.

In addition to buying the controller alone, buyers can also purchase a $199 bundle kit that includes the dock or a $249 kit that includes the dock, a 35W USB-C adapter, the MCON Key Cast, an HDMI cable, a USB-C cable, and a travel sleeve for the controller.
