Almost half a year has passed since we first covered the M-Con smartphone controller. Since then, various competitors have become available, including the 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller (curr. $49.99 on Amazon). However, none are quite the same as the M-Con, which utilises MagSafe to create a PlayStation Portable (PSP) esque look.
Although M-Con Innovations has not shared an official release date yet, it has now indicated that its inaugural device will be available from as soon as next month via Kickstarter. To that end, M-Con Innovations plans to showcase its final design during CES 2025 in Las Vegas between January 7 and January 10.
It is worth noting that M-Con Innovations has made significant design changes from the V1 it showcased in July. As the video below shows, the new M-Con now has a dedicated button to automatically open it. Moreover, the controller has Hall effect joysticks to mitigate drifting and fold-out handles to improve ergonomics.
On top of that, M-Con Innovations has designed its controller with customisation and reparability in mind. Consequently, one should be able to disassemble it just using Torx screwdrivers. Please see the video below for more information.
