Despite the plethora of retro handhelds already available on the market, Chinese manufacturers are not slowing down. GameMT, the manufacturer behind the E5 Ultra vertical handheld as well as the E6 Max and E6 Plus handhelds, has released a teaser video for a new device.
Called the GameMT EX8, the handheld will have a 3:2 aspect ratio like the Powkiddy RGB50. The teaser video shows that the EX8 will have symmetrical thumbsticks, both of which have RGB ring lights. It also appears to be significantly thick despite having in-line shoulder buttons.
The GameMT EX8 will be available in two colors — black and white. The former has black thumbsticks and shoulder buttons, while the D-pad and ABXY buttons are red. The white variant, on the other hand, has purple D-pad and ABXY buttons, while the thumbsticks and the rest of the buttons are white.
With respect to its specs, the GameMT EX8 will have a 4.88-inch 1080 × 1620 display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display is not only larger than that of the Ayaneo Pocket Micro (available on Amazon for $224.95), which has a 3.5-inch 960 × 640 display, but sharper too.
However, GameMT has decided to go with the same Helio G99 processor, and it is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The teaser video shows that the EX8 has a microSD card slot at the bottom so that users can add more storage. It also has a cooling fan and bottom-firing speakers. The GameMT EX8 will have a 5,000mAh battery capacity and charge via a USB-C port at the bottom.
There's no info on when the GameMT EX8 will be announced, but the video says it is coming soon.
