New 14-inch ThinkPad receives wider international release with 120 Hz VRR display and 32 GB RAM
Lenovo is continuing with the slow expansion of its latest ThinkPad E14 generation to more markets. Over a month ago, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 arrived in Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore with AMD Ryzen processors. Then earlier this month, the company returned with its first release of Intel Wildcat Lake alternatives.
Now, it has brought its AMD-backed variants to Europe. Currently, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 AMD begins with the Ryzen AI 5 330, a quad-core processor from AMD's Krackan Point 2 family. However, pricing varies wildly in the Eurozone. At the time of writing, the 14-inch laptop starts at €1,259 to €1,664 despite shipping with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage.
Meanwhile, the UK has received a comparable configuration for £1,393.99. Setting that aside, the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 AMD can be configured with five other processors up to and including the Ryzen AI 7 450. Incidentally, the latter is the only processor that outperforms the Ryzen 7 250 in our benchmarks, which underpinned our ThinkPad E14 Gen 7 review unit (curr. $879 on Amazon).
Moreover, the new ThinkPad E14 can be purchased with up to 32 GB of DDR5-5600 RAM, a 1 TB M.2 2242 SSD, a 64 Wh battery, and a 2.8K IPS display with 500 nits peak brightness and a 120 Hz variable refresh rate. For reference, Lenovo sells Intel versions of the ThinkPad E14 Gen 8 too. Currently, Panther Lake options have received a global release.
