Mysterious OnePlus phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and 8,000mAh+ battery leaks with release timeline

Two new OnePlus phones are launching this month in China, including the OnePlus 15 and the Ace 6. Subsequently, the company may introduce a new performance-oriented smartphone. The news about this mysterious phone comes from renowned tipster Digital Chat Station on the Chinese social media site Weibo. The tipster has shared some key information about the device and its release timeline.

The leaker does not reveal the name of the phone. However, it may launch under the Ace series, which is OnePlus' sub-flagship lineup for the Chinese market. It is said to feature a 165Hz display with a 1.5K resolution.

The highlight of the phone will be its Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor. For reference, it is a high-end chipset that is confirmed to launch later this year. The tipster suggests that it may perform slightly better than the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which will power the new OnePlus Ace 6. However, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 should not be confused with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which is a flagship processor, powering phones including the Xiaomi 17 series, OnePlus 15, iQoo 15, Realme GT 8 Pro and more.

Another key highlight of the upcoming OnePlus phone is that it will have a larger battery with a capacity exceeding 8,000mAh. For comparison, the OnePlus 15 and Ace 6 feature 7,300mAh and 7,800mAh batteries, respectively. This means the upcoming phone could have the largest battery in a OnePlus phone yet.

Regarding the release timeline, the tipster suggests that the device will release by the end of this year. This aligns with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 launch, indicating it could be among the first batch of phones with the new chipset.

Separately, the company will launch the OnePlus 15 and the Ace 6 on October 27 in China. Recently, the company revealed camera details of its Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered flagship.
