The Realme GT 8 Pro is now official and available with Qualcomm's latest flagship chipset. Also equipped with a 144 Hz display and a 7,000 mAh battery, the Realme GT 8 Pro combines 50 MP primary, 200 MP telephoto and 50 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras in a package that starts at CNY 3,999 (~$562) in China.

Just yesterday, Vivo introduced the iQOO 15 as its latest high-end smartphone and its first packing Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Now, Realme has responded in kind with the GT 8 Pro, which has joined the cheaper GT 8 during a simultaneous launch event in China. While the pair lookalike, the GT 8 and GT 8 Pro depart in more areas than a different chipset too.

For instance, the GT 8 Pro supports 20 W faster wired charging at up to 120 W, just like the global version of the GT 7 (curr. $799 on Amazon). While overall battery capacity matches the GT 8 at 7,000 mAh, the GT 8 Pro also supports 50 W wireless charging that the GT 8 lacks altogether. Moreover, the GT 8 contains the following camera hardware:

  • Primary: 50 MP, 1/1.56-inch optical format, 1.0 µm wide pixels, f/1.8 aperture, 22 mm equivalent focal length (wide), PDAF, OIS
  • Telephoto: 200 MP, 1/1.56-inch optical format, f/2.6 aperture, 65 mm equivalent focal length (3x optical zoom), PDAF, OIS
  • Ultra-wide-angle: 50 MP, 1/2.88-inch optical format, 116˚ FoV, f/2.0 aperture, 16 mm equivalent focal length
  • Front-facing: 32 MP, f/2.4 aperture, 24 mm equivalent focal length

These cameras are supported by Ricoh camera filters and modes, as well as a replaceable camera cover for the device's rear-facing lenses. Affixed by a pair of torx screws, the camera cover can either be replaced by one of Realme's or a 3D printed equivalent, the files for which Realme has shared on Maker World. For reference, the 32 MP front-facing camera intersects a 6.79-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 144 Hz, 1440p and with 4,000 nits full panel brightness, just like the Realme GT 8.

The Realme GT 8 Pro starts at CNY 3,999 (~$562) in China with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, a CNY 1,100 (~$155) surcharge over the Realme GT 8. At launch, the GT 8 Pro can also be configured with four other memory options up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, which retails for CNY 5,199 (~$730). At the time of publication, Realme has not confirmed international launch plans yet.
