Verdict: realme GT 7 offers top value for money
The realme GT 7 presents itself as a high-quality smartphone with IP69 certification, a huge 7,000 mAh battery, eSIM support and a versatile camera setup.
The performance is very good, and the camera setup offers a wide range of options for an upper mid-range smartphone.
realme also provides the GT 7 with many AI functions, with the AI Planner feature standing out.
We were unable to measure the advertised, spectacular brightness of the display during testing, but the panel is still accurate.
Unfortunately, features such as wireless charging and 6 GHz Wi-Fi are not available.

The realme GT 7 is an upper mid-range version of the realme GT 7 Pro and is the successor to the realme GT 6. It's positioning in this segment aims to impress with a particularly good price-performance ratio.
The GT 7 is available in two storage variants: 12/256 GB and 12/512 GB, which originally start at an RRP of €750 and €800, respectively but were already reduced by €100 at launch.
A Dream Edition model is also available that has been created in collaboration with the Aston Martin F1 team.
The GT 7 Dream Edition is distinguished by more RAM, special accessories, an unusual color option, and costs €900.
Specifications of the realme GT 7
Build and features: realme GT 7 is IP69 certified
The realme GT 7 is available in IceSense Black and IceSense Blue color options. The frame is made of aluminum, the front is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, and the graphene back has a matte finish.
The workmanship is of a good standard, although the gaps between the back and frame are not always completely even and the GT 7 creaks slightly when twisted.
It is also both dust and waterproof in accordance with IP69 standards and can even withstand high-pressure and steam jet cleaning.
The USB port is only of the 2.0 specification, so there's no DisplayPort-out supported.
The infrared transmitter can come in handy for remote control of air conditioning systems, cameras, entertainment devices, and the like.
Communication and operation: No 6 GHz WLAN
In combination with our Asus ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 reference router, the realme GT 7 offers fast Wi-Fi throughput and delivers stable transfer rates. However, despite Wi-Fi 7 support, the 6 GHz band is not supported.
The GT 7's cellular reception is good in the city and we had no problems in the suburbs either. The voice quality of the smartphone is good when held to the ear, but ambient noise filtering is only moderate.
In addition to two nano-SIM cards, the GT 7 can also use an eSIM instead of the second physical SIM.
For biometric security, an optical fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display, which offers fast recognition and quickly unlocks the smartphone.
Face recognition is also available via the front camera, although this quickly reaches its limits in the dark and is less secure.
The Rain-Water-Smart-Touch function is practical and effectively prevents incorrect entries on the touchscreen due to water.

Software and sustainability: Android 15 with lots of AI
The realme GT 7 comes with realme UI 6.0 layered on top of Google's Android 15. According to the manufacturer, the GT 7 is eligible for four years of major updates and six years of security patches.
Numerous AI tools are included, which allow speech and text to be summarized, text creation, and the gaming experience. Additionally, realme also focuses on image post-processing.
However, the real highlight is the AI Planner feature that can filter out appointments from documents, emails or images, and enter them directly into calendars.
When it comes to sustainability, however, realme is reluctant to make any concrete statements.
The outer packaging is plastic-free. Instructions for repairs or spare parts for customers are not offered.
Cameras: Versatile trio with up to 4K 120 fps video
The front camera has a high 32 MP resolution but does not use pixel binning, which is particularly noticeable when taking pictures in low light. The details look a little artificial at full size, but otherwise the realme GT 7 takes very appealing selfies. Videos can be recorded in 4K Ultra HD 60 fps.
The triple camera on the back includes two 50 MP sensors, but the zoom has to make do without optical image stabilization (OIS). It still delivers decent results in the digital zoom range up to 100x.
The main camera produces very high-contrast images and overdoes it with saturation, especially in dark green tones. The ultra-wide angle lens is of a low 8 MP resolution but surprises with decent results.
Videos can be recorded at a maximum of 8K 30 fps, though Ultra HD videos can go even up to 120 FPS.

Display: Accurate 120 Hz OLED with supposedly peak 6,000 cd/m² luminance
The 6.78-inch OLED panel of the realme GT 7 is evenly illuminated, offers a high level of detail, and is an accurate color display.
The manufacturer promises brightness levels of up to 6,000 cd/m², but we could not confirm the same in our measurements. With a pure white display, we achieved an average of 1,530 cd/m² in our measurement. It doesn't get any brighter with a reduced white area (APL18) or HDR playback.
We measure the peak brightness via a measurement field in the developer options, but even here it stops at 2,746 cd/m².
The OLED flickers at a relatively low base frequency of 90 Hz, but realme also uses high-frequency PWM dimming, which should reduce the impact on sensitive users.

The display backlight flickers at 90 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) . The frequency of 90 Hz is very low, so the flickering may cause eyestrain and headaches after extended use. In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8350 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured. |

Performance, emissions, and battery life: Fast SoC and long run times
The realme GT 7 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400e. The SoC offers high performance in all areas and the system speed is very high in everyday use.
The surface temperatures rise sharply in the 3DMark stress test and climb just above the 48 °C mark in places. This is high but not critical. The SoC remains stable in most stress tests, but throttles slightly in the more demanding ones.
The GT 7's two speakers deliver a good sound experience, but high tones sometimes distort a little at maximum volume. Bluetooth codec support is decent, but there's no LC3 or Auracast support.
With its 7,000 mAh battery battery, the smartphone is ideally equipped for long runtimes. These are at a very good level, but even longer run times would certainly have been possible with higher efficiency.
The GT 7 can be charged with a 120 W power adapter. Unfortunately, this was not available to us for testing.

Notebookcheck's overall impressions of the realme GT 7
The realme GT 7 offers a powerful overall package with many AI functions and a huge battery that you would not expect in a smartphone of this size.
The camera setup is decent, but also shows a few shortcomings in the test. However, it is difficult to find anything comparable in this price range.
