Honor has just introduced a batch of new high-end devices in China. Of those, the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro are the first Honor devices that have switched to Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. According to new rumours, Honor could soon be returning to the older Snapdragon 8 Elite that underpins last year's Magic 7 Pro (curr. $1,099 on Amazon).
Now, Digital Chat Station claims to have got their hands on a mid-range smartphone before its official release. While the leaker does not explicitly state the brand concerned, the emoji used is consistent with the Honor brand. Based on Digital Chat Station's predictions from August, the device now mentioned is likely the Honor 500 Pro.
Writing on Weibo, the leaker suggests that Honor has combined the Snapdragon 8 Elite with 'the largest battery in its class'. For context, Honor already offers an 8,000 mAh silicon carbon battery inside the Honor Power. Moreover, the Honor 500 Pro is said to adopt a 200 MP and 1/1.4-inch primary camera with a 64 MP and 3x telephoto camera in tow too. Reportedly, the latter will be the OmniVision OV64B, which has been used across various devices in the last few years as a primary camera. An Honor 500 series launch date remains unknown for now, though.
