Honor has launched the Magic 8 Pro in China. It's the company's current top-end flagship phone that's powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and recent benchmark listings suggest that Honor's new flagships can offer better performance than the Xiaomi 17 series.
Aside from the performance, Honor is heavily promoting the nightography capabilities of the Magic 8 Pro. The back camera setup of the flagship phone features a 200 MP 1/1.4-inch telephoto sensor with OIS, f/2.6 aperture, and 3.7X optical zoom. It's said to be capable of capturing detail-rich, bright photos.
The telephoto of the Magic 8 Pro is paired with a 1/1.3-inch 50 MP primary camera with f/1.6 aperture. There's a third camera on the back, which is a 50 MP ultrawide with f/2.0 aperture and 122° FOV. On the front, the flagship phone sports a 50 MP selfie shooter and a 3D depth camera.
As Honor highlights, the camera setup of the Magic 8 Pro is backed by a handful of AI-enhanced features. Among the notable ones is the AI anti-shake technology, which helps to capture detailed zoomed-in shots. With this new flagship phone lineup, the company is also introducing Magic Color, aiming to enhance the colors and tones of the captures with advanced deep learning algorithms.
Other than that, the Magic 8 Pro comes with a 6.71-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 1256 x 2808 pixels. This screen is said to have a peak brightness rating of 6,000 nits and a 120 Hz variable refresh rate.
A 7,100 mAh battery powers the internals of the Chinese Magic 8 Pro, but as Honor highlights, the global variant will come with a 6,270 mAh battery. The good part is that the 80 W wireless charging and 100 W wired fast charging support will remain the same (140 W Anker Prime charger curr. $79.99 on Amazon).
In China, Honor offers Magic 8 Pro starting with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, which goes for CNY 5,699, around $798. The top-end version comes with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, and in China, it costs CNY 6,699, about $938. Honor has yet to confirm when the phone will make a global debut.
