Honor will launch the Magic 8 and Magic 8 Pro on October 15, 2025, in China. Ahead of the launch, the company has shared a pre-promotional video, which pits the top-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship against the iPhone 17 Pro in a nightography competition.
In the video, the company representative tested both the flagship phones in high altitudes while being in a helicopter, capturing different city parts in relatively low-light conditions. Even though there was a lot of shakiness, both the Magic 8 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro did a decent job at capturing the scenes.
However, as Honor highlights, the captures from the Magic 8 Pro have more details than the ones from the iPhone 17 Pro. The company also shows that the photos from its new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone have better color, which can be further enhanced with the built-in AI-powered image-enhancing feature.
While the company didn't officially reveal the camera specs of the Honor Magic 8 Pro, it recently teased that there will be a 200 MP periscope telephoto. This 1/1.4-inch sensor with a f/2.6 lens will reportedly be paired with a 1/1.31-inch 50 MP f/1.6 primary camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide.
The recent teasers have also confirmed that the Magic 8 Pro will feature a large 7,200 mAh battery, which is rumored to have support for 120 W fast charging (160 W Anker Prime charger curr. $115.99 on Amazon). More details of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship will be confirmed at the imminent Chinese launch event.
