It’s a rare opportunity to take a closer look inside the usually very secretive production facilities of smartphone manufacturers and then take a new flagship phone home. Honor invited us to do exactly that on a factory tour that truly had something to show. Afterward, we tested the camera of the Honor Magic8 Pro in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

It will take a little bit longer until the Honor Magic8 Pro officially arrives in Europe. In China, Honor’s new flagship phone that’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 already launched in mid-October, but the successor to the Honor Magic7 Pro won’t hit the European market before early 2026. On a more positive note, there will be a full review right at launch, since we brought the new smartphones from the former Huawei subsidiary back with us from China.

During an exclusive Honor factory tour, there was more to see than just the usual marketing presentations. We got impressive insights into the manufacturing process and testing procedures inside the modern factory halls of the Chinese tech hub in Shenzhen, and we were even allowed to bring a camera. Below are a few screenshots from a video that has been published on Notebookcheck’s YouTube channel. Since the batteries shown are the usual single-cell variants, the capacity of the European Honor Magic8 models will be limited to 6,270mAh due to specific regulations, while competitors such as the OnePlus 15 have already upgraded to dual-cell batteries.

When it comes to cameras, not much has changed this year, and not every change is good, as we already noted during the China launch. After Xiaomi, fans of variable aperture main cameras lose another alternative to Huawei's flagships. On the 200 megapixel telephoto camera, the optical focal length changes from a 72mm equivalent to an 85mm equivalent. However, there are some very positive developments in terms of video, such as the 4K120 slow motion mode and Log recording, which we also tested in our hands-on video.

A full review and a comparison with other current camera flagships will be published soon. Anyone who wants to take a closer look at the camera samples that can be seen in the video can find the full resolution photos below.
