OnePlus has explained how the upgraded cooling system in the OnePlus 15 will keep the phone cool during peak performance. The phone will be released on October 27 in China with a global release following soon after.

OnePlus is getting fans hyped for its next flagship, the OnePlus 15, which is just around the corner. Continuing the series of teasers and reveals ahead of the launch, the company has now shed some light on the cooling system for the OnePlus 15 and it uses some interesting technology to deliver impressive results, at least on paper.

Through its official Weibo page, OnePlus has shared that the upcoming flagship will feature a new and improved cooling system that its calling “Glacier Cooling System” (translated). It is a combination of a larger vapor chamber that measures 5,778 mm2 and is said to be twice as good as the company’s previous implementations.

Furthermore, there is an industry first “Supercritical Aerogel” (translated) layer for improved thermal insulation. OnePlus says this is the same material used in space rocket engines and has a thermal conductivity of 0.025W/mK. On top of that, the packaging architecture used by the company allows for better heat dissipation, leading to a claimed 18-degree Celsius lower core area temperature.

For gamers, the OnePlus 15 will come with what the company calls “Gaming Hand” temperature sensor that covers 10 touch areas and provides better cooling where the hands typically rest. This brings down temperatures by 5.6 degrees Celsius as the company says, but it is unclear what the baseline is for this measurement.

All this tech is meant to keep the phone operating at peak performance without getting too hot and throttling. This, combined with the 165 Hz refresh rate and the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, should deliver an excellent gaming experience. The phone will be unveiled in China on October 27 and a global launch is expected in November.
