Motorola has officially beaten Google to be the latest Android OEM to release its own Find My Device-compatible smart tag. Furthermore, it is backed to deliver the "unbelievably precise" location of one's lost keys, luggage or perhaps new flagship foldable smartphone with the same ultra-wideband (UWB) spec of others such as the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 and Apple AirTag.
In addition, the Moto Tag is also rated to act as a remote camera shutter for devices such as the Razr+ 2024 or Edge 50 Ultra via an integrated button, which can also be used to find a paired phone by making it ring when misplaced.
Each Moto Tag is also touted to get a year's worth of "everyday use" out of each battery, which can be replaced afterward as they are button-style CR2032s. Then again, the new smart tracker has been released with some drawbacks.
Like the AirTag, it is a simple disk that requires a compatible holder or case to keep it in place, none of which are sold by Motorola. On that note, the OEM may not have painted it plain white, but has made it available in only 2 colors.
They are Starlight Blue or Sage Green, the latter of which is the only one available as a single Tag via motorola.com at the time of writing. Accordingly, to get the other option, one needs to buy a 4-pack of the trackers, which contains only 2 in the dark blue shade.
The Moto Tag multi-pack is $99, whereas 1 is priced at $29.99. However, a single AirTag is currently discounted to $23.99 on Amazon, while the SmartTag 2 is even cheaper for a limited time at $21.99.
