Fi has released the Mini, its smallest smart pet tracker for cats and dogs. The unit measures 1.65 x 1.18 x 0.49 in. (42mm x 30mm x 12.5 mm) and weighs 0.56 oz. (16 g).
The rugged unit tracks a pet's activity and sleep around-the-clock for peace of mind. AI-powered health tracking and Apple Watch integration are planned to arrive later this year for proactive treatment of emerging health issues. Built-in GPS location and LTE-M cellular connectivity with Verizon enable quick recovery when they've escaped on a solo run across the city. The waterproof IP68-rated tracker can run up to three weeks between charges, according to Fi.
Cats and dogs are living longer thanks to advanced feed and care, but medical bills and insurance remain expensive. The average cost of accident and illness insurance coverage for dogs in 2024 was $749.29 alone. The tracker has a one-time $20 activation fee along with a required service membership. The membership costs $79 semi-annually, $129 annually, or $239 biennially. The subscription includes unlimited Verizon cellular service.
The Fi Mini can be purchased from the Fi website today. The larger Fi Series 3+ dog collar (sold here on Amazon) has LED lights to make locating pets in the dark easier. Naturally, owners should walk their dogs on a leash, preferably hooked to a vest (like this one on Amazon), to minimize the chance of them running away.
