MSI has now started selling the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED as a cheaper alternative to the MPG 321URX QD-OLED. Available for considerably less than its ASUS ROG, Dell Alienware and Gigabyte AORUS peers despite utilising the same 4K and 240 Hz QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display, the MSI MAG 321UPX QD-OLED does contain several disadvantages compared to the nominally more expensive MPG 321URX QD-OLED.

MSI has now released the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED in the US, having showcased the gaming monitor during CES 2024 in January. To recap, the company presented the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED alongside the MPG 321URX QD-OLED, the latter of which it started selling in mid-February. While the latter undercuts competitors like the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDM and Dell Alienware AW3225QF, the former reduces the entry-point of a new 4K and 240 Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor even further than the Gigabyte AORUS FO32U2 or AORUS FO32U2P.

Specifically, MSI has priced the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED at $899.99, $50 less than the MPG 321URX QD-OLED. However, it is worth noting that MSI has culled a few features it includes in the MPG 321URX QD-OLED to achieve a lower price point for the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED. On the one hand, the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED lacks USB Type-A ports, of which the MPG 321URX QD-OLED has two.

Additionally, MSI limits the former's USB Type-C port to 15 W, a drop of 75 W compared to the MPG 321URX QD-OLED. Moreover, the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED misses out on RGB lighting and MSI's Gaming Intelligence app, as TFTCentral notes. On the other hand, the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED will never receive any firmware updates, full details of which we have covered separately.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED will ship with the same issues as the MPG 321URX QD-OLED that MSI subsequently patched with a firmware update. Currently, it seems that MSI is having stock issues with the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED. As a result, Best Buy and Newegg have temporarily stopped selling the monitor. With that being said, it still remains possible to order the MAG 321UPX QD-OLED from MSI directly or on Amazon US.
