VX4518: Manufacturer reveals new ultra-wide gaming monitor with modern ports and fast refresh rate
ViewSonic has unveiled the VX4518, a new 44.5-inch ultra-wide gaming monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio and a 1500R curvature. According to the company's product page, the ViewSonic VX4518 relies upon VA technology, which ensures a comparatively high contrast ratio but at the expense of inferior response times compared to IPS and OLED equivalents. Accordingly, while ViewSonic quotes a 3,000:1 contrast ratio but 1 ms MPRT response times; the company does not provide GtG response times.
Additionally, the ViewSonic VX4518 outputs at 5,120 x 1,440 pixels with a 165 Hz refresh rate and 450 nits peak brightness. Moreover, ViewSonic states that the monitor delivers 90% DCI-P3 and 99% sRGB colour space coverages with an 8-bit colour depth. On top of that, ViewSonic has included the following I/O:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 2x 5 W speakers
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x HDMI 2.1 (likely TMDS)
- 3x USB Type-A
- 1x USB Type-B
- 1x USB Type-C (65 W Power Delivery)
ViewSonic claims that the monitor will ship with a stand that supports 110 mm height and -5º~15°±2 tilt adjustments, too. Unfortunately, pricing and availability remain unknown for now. Also, while ViewSonic tends to release its monitors globally, it has only presented the VX4518 in China so far.
