The 27R83U appears to be TCL's smaller alternative to the 34R83Q, another gaming monitor that it has also recently revealed. While the monitor spans 27-inches across in a flat finish, it still contains the same I/O as its 34-inch counterpart. Specifically, TCL has equipped the 27R83U with the following ports:
- 1x 3.5 mm jack
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 2x HDMI 2.1 (capabilities unknown)
- 2x USB Type-A
- 1x USB Type-C (90 W USB PD/DisplayPort Alt Mode)
Additionally, TCL has included a KVM switch, plus a pair of 3 W speakers and a stand that supports height, swivel and tilt adjustments. Like the 34R83Q, TCL claims the 27R83U utilises a CSOT-derived Fast-HVA panel aided by 1,152 Mini LED local dimming zones. Similarly, the company states that the monitor delivers 1,600 nits peak brightness with VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification, a 4,000:1 contrast ratio and 10-bit (8-bit+FRC) colour depth.
However, the 27R83U outputs at 3,840 x 2,160, rather than 3,440 x 1,440 in the case of the 34R83Q. Furthermore, the 27R83U has a 160 Hz native refresh rate, which it can vary (VRR) through adaptive-sync technologies. Unfortunately, TCL has not shared pricing for the 27R83U yet, nor when the monitor will be available. By contrast, French retailers have disclosed the MSRP of the 34R83Q.
