TCL C855: Mini LED TV with 3500 cd/m² is also targeting video gamers and comes with a powerful sound system
TCL is launching a new television onto the market, namely the C855, which will be optionally available in different sizes, ranging from 65, 75, 85 to 98 inches. A QD mini LED panel is installed in each variant, which is likely to be characterized by high brightness and a high contrast range. The number of dimming zones depends on the size and is said to be up to 2304 zones, with the 85-inch model offering the most dimming zones. The maximum brightness is stated as 3500 cd/m², which denotes the peak brightness only and is not uniform across the entire screen. The typical brightness is given as 650 cd/m².
The mini LED technology should also ensure that image content with a large contrast range is displayed optimally. HDR10+ Adaptive is supported, which adjusts the brightness according to the ambient brightness. The DCI-P3 color space is said to be covered at 97%, while the color accuracy or color deviation is specified as a Delta E value of less than 1. Such a specification is also provided by (semi-)professional monitors, which are used by graphic designers, for example.
According to TCL, the panel supposedly lasts 100,000 hours without a reduction in brightness, meaning it will not degrade quickly. A 2.2.2 sound system with an output of up to 120 watts is installed, and DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Atmos are supported. Lastly, the C855 also provides AALM, VRR and AMD FreeSync Premium, along with a refresh rate of 144 Hz, meaning that the C855 is also likely to be suitable for gamers with few or no restrictions.
The televisions are due to go on sale very soon, but prices remain unknown.
