Earlier this morning, less than three weeks after the arrival of the MIUI Global 12.5.3 Stable update for my Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro, I noticed that a new software refresh for my phone was available. Although I was disappointed about it not being the Enhanced Edition that I was hoping for, I decided that a stable 765 MB software update package must be something worth checking out.
Before moving on, I must highlight the fact that I am still located in Romania, as usual, so if the update is not available for you yet, changing your region might help you get it sooner. Now, I should add that the update is labeled 12.5.5.RJDEUXM and its changelog is quite generous (I'll get to it a bit later). After installing the update, I ended up with the 11RKQ1.200826.002 Android version and, as mentioned earlier, a security patch dated 2021-08-01.
According to the changelog attached to the update, the list of changes included with the new firmware is pretty long and focuses on two areas, namely System and Notes.
In the System area, the six changes highlighted revolve around optimizations and nothing else. In fact, it looks like the update of the security patch to the July 2021 version should not be here, because it was delivered with the MIUI 12.5.3 update earlier this month. However, the user should rest assured that the phone will be now faster and more secure. After the short time spent with my phone after updating, I can confirm that there are no speed problems.
The Notes app, on the other hand, gets the ability to create mind maps with complex structures, new tools for doodling and sketching, a gesture shortcut for creating notes, tasks, and excerpts anywhere, dynamic layouts, and more. To be honest, I only opened this app once or twice and never felt the need to get back to it. It would be nice to hear some thoughts about its updated/"all-new" version from someone who's actually using it, so the comments section is all yours, as usual.
These being said, I'll leave you with MIUI Global 12.5.5 Stable and hope to talk about the Enhanced Edition as soon as possible. Obviously, those who think that MIUI is just as bad as the hardware of the Mi 10T Pro is good should take a look at the collection of custom ROMs already available for this handset.
