MIUI Global 12.5.3 Stable update hits the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro
At the end of May, the Xiaomi Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro started to receive the Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 software update. Sadly, not much has happened since then, although some users recently received a minor update package labeled MIUI 12.5.1. Yesterday evening, I noticed a software update available for my Mi 10T Pro. When I checked it out, I discovered that Xiaomi is now pushing a 295 MB update known as MIUI Global 12.5.3 Stable.
The full name of the firmware that I received is 12.5.3.0.RJDEUXM and the official changelog displayed on my phone reads "Updated Android Security Patch to June 2021. Increased system security." in the System section, which also happens to be the only available one. After applying this update, the About Phone screen displays "11 RKQI.200826.002" as the Android version and, as expected, "2021-06-01" as the Android security update label.
Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Android 12-based MIUI 13 will be available for the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro at some time in the future. Unfortunately, the MIUI software updates seem to be unable to keep up with the monthly security patches from Google. Compared to my former phone (Xiaomi Mi A1), the Mi 10T Pro seem to receive rather random updates when it comes to small maintenance/security patches.
If given the option via official channels, I would switch to Android One right now. Am I the only Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro user to feel this way? Let me know in the comments section, especially if you are one of the adventurous ones already running an unofficial Android 11-based ROM for this handset (or its non-Pro sibling, of course).
