MIUI 12.5.12 Enhanced Edition brings the January 2022 security patch to Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro users
A new update for the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro is rolling out as we speak and, unfortunately, it is still a MIUI 12.5.x Enhanced Edition patch on top of Android 11. To be more specific, European handsets are now receiving the MIUI 184.108.40.206.RJDEUXM update.
The new update has 290 MB in size and its description is as cryptic as usual: "Updated Android Security Patch to January 2022. Increased system security." is all the information that comes along the software refresh. However, those who need the European recovery ROM can download it from here. The file size is 3.26 GB and the MD5 checksum is cb0759a1f74164140dfa6d6981d8ebc2. For the latest MIUI versions available in various regions, feel free to check out this page.
Although unconfirmed rumors claim that the Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro (and its non-Pro sibling) might not receive the MIUI 13 update, it is very likely for this handset to get the MIUI-coated Android 12 treatment in the coming months. This Qualcomm Snapdragon 865-powered smartphone arrived on the market in late 2020, loaded with Android 10. Since then, it became a very popular device in many markets across the globe, so Xiaomi's image would surely take a hit if they decide to stop supporting it after a single major OS upgrade.
Even if Xiaomi will not release MIUI 13 for the Mi 10T Pro, the users of this popular piece of hardware can always grab one of the many custom ROMs compatible with it. The list of such projects includes Android 12-based LineageOS 18.1 and PixelPlusUI, as well as many others. As usual, most such projects can be found on the XDA Forums, but there might be other interesting choices in the wild as well (feel free to let us know about such custom ROMs in the comments section below).
