On the road that leads to the highly anticipated MIUI 13 firmware, the popular Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro gets another update from the 12.x branch, namely MIUI 12.5.9. The 657 MB-large update includes the October 2021 security patch and the usual tweaks and fixes, but without any new features on top.

After being stuck for almost two months on the MIUI 12.5.6.0.RJDEUXM firmware without being provided with any new patches, Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro (and the regular edition as well, obviously) owners across Europe are now receiving the MIUI 12.5.9.0.RJDEUXM, most likely the last stop before MIUI 13 comes along.

The update has 657 MB in size and the official description is quite cryptic, as usual. According to it, the list of changes can be scaled down to the two one-liners below:

  • Optimized system performance.
  • Improved system security and stability.

Since MIUI 13 is already being tested and the beta version is expected to roll out before the end of the week, it is possible to see the first stable release of Xiaomi's custom Android firmware reaching the Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro before the end of the year or, in the worst-case scenario, in early 2022.

As of November 22, MIUI managed to hit the 500 million monthly active users milestone. This year, Xiaomi's Android skin has gained almost 19 million active users in China and over 100 million worldwide.
