LG releases new UltraGear OLED 39GX950B gaming monitor with 1,500 nits peak brightness
LG finally shared new details about its long-awaited UltraGear OLED 39GX950B last week. Showcased before CES 2026, the 39-inch gaming monitor was then teased as 'coming soon' in January. Fast forward to the start of April and LG confirmed that the UltraGear OLED 39GX950B would be touching down in Japan on April 9 at 14:00 local time (05:00 UTC).
Moreover, the company listed the same monitor on its Canadian website. While Canadian pricing remains unknown, LG has quietly released the UltraGear OLED 39GX950B in the US. In short, the UltraGear OLED 39GX950B surpasses the older UltraGear OLED 39GX900A in several areas (curr. $699 on Amazon).
On the one hand, the former outputs at 5K2K (5,120 x 2,160) rather than 1440p. On the other hand, it delivers 335 nits full panel brightness in SDR mode and 1,500 nits when HDR is enabled (APL 1.5%). Additionally, the new monitor offers a 165 Hz refresh rate that can be increased to 330 Hz by dropping the resolution to 1080p.
Currently, LG is offering its new 39-inch monitor for $1,799.99 in the US with the offer of a Premium Care 2-year plan for $1. LG will run this offer until May 4, after which pre-orders should start shipping. Please see LG's website for more details.
