CES 2023 | LG Signature OLED M3: 97-inch wireless Smart TV debuts with 4K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate
Earlier this week, LG announced the C3, G3 and Z3, a trio of conventional OLED Smart TVs that will be available later this year. However, the company has also presented the Signature OLED M3, another Smart TV that arguably shares more in common with the Displace TV than the C3, G3 or Z3 series. The Signature OLED M3 is considerably larger than the Displace TV, which measures 55-inches across but can be combined to create a 220-inch composite image.
In comparison, the Signature OLED M3 has a 97-inch panel that outputs natively at 4K and 120 Hz. Like the Displace TV, the Signature OLED M3 streams content from a base station to give a wireless appearance. In saying that, the Signature OLED M3 has a regular power cable, not batteries like the Displace TV. The Signature OLED M3 relies on typical wall mounting methods too; Displace claims its eponymous TV can adhere itself to flat surfaces with a vacuum-based system. Alternatively, the Signature OLED M3 can be placed on a proprietary stand that LG will sell separately.
LG has outlined information about the TV's base station though, which it calls the Zero Connect Box. For example, the Zero Connect Box has three HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as USB Type-A ports and a LAN port. Supposedly, the Zero Connect Box and Signature OLED M3 need to be in a clear line of sight of each other, although the gap between them can extend to 30 feet. LG has not confirmed what communication standard the pair communicate on, but LG asserts it will be 3x the speed that Wi-Fi 6 devices can achieve while maintaining a connection with a wireless soundbar. LG has not shared full details about the Signature OLED M3 yet, with pricing and availability a mystery at this stage.
