Huawei currently leads the charge in terms of challenging the new $1,199 (at least) iPad Pro 13 by upgrading its own flagship tablet to a potentially ground-breaking tandem OLED display. It is exclusive to the Chinese market, however - but not for much longer.
The MatePad Pro 12.2's cutting-edge display is brighter than that of its Apple rival, and also potentially faster at 144Hz. It also "could be" one of Huawei's PaperMatte tablets, and is as such touted to deliver a more convincingly traditional drawing experience with the tablet's custom M-Pencil 3 stylus - great for those HarmonyOS-native GoPaint sessions, apparently.
The Pro 12.2 is now slated to debut alongside the updated Watch GT 5 and blood pressure-tracking Watch D2 on September 19, 2024. Huawei has also hinted at the simultaneous launch of another, "band-new" MatePad, which, by the content of its teasers, might be a re-brand of the Air (2024) for the rest of the world
