iPad Pro 13 (2024) – Apple's Pro tablet stands out in most regards
The larger 7th gen iPad Pro features a 13-inch LTPO display capable of up to 120Hz refresh rate. The screen, which Apple named the Ultra Retina XDR Display, is the first to use tandem OLED technology and comes with a matt nano-texture glass option. The new iPad Pro is the first Apple product to be powered by the brand-new Apple M4 chip. Depending on the configuration selected, the processor can be paired with either 8 or 16 GB of RAM, and between 256 and 2,048 GB of storage. The tablet also supports the speedy Wi-Fi 6E and, unsurprisingly, the new Pencil Pro. There are plenty of optional accessories available, but they are quickly going to make the iPad Pro 13 even more pricey than it already is.
The iPad Pro 13 surprised us with its slim and lightweight design. It delivers absolutely superb performance that even makes expensive premium Android tablets look like mid-range offerings. However, Apple failed to provide the SoC with optimal cooling.
The new tandem OLED panel stands out with its excellent brightness, without neglecting image quality. That said, we wouldn’t unreservedly recommend the tablet to every single user because the display exhibits a small amount of PWM flicker.
Additionally, unlike the Galaxy Tab S9 lineup, the iPad Pro doesn’t have IP certification. The Apple tablet is also not equipped to be shared by multiple users, for example as a device to control smart home products, unless they are willing to forgo biometric security.
The 2024 iPad Pro is overall an excellent tablet that competing products will inevitably be measured against in the coming months.
The iPad Pro 13 is available from online retailers such as Amazon and notebooksbilliger.de.
