MatePad Pro 12.2: Huawei releases Apple iPad Pro 13 competitor globally with tandem OLED display and floating keyboard dock for €999
Just over a month has passed since Huawei introduced the MatePad Pro 12.2 in China. Now, the large tablet has made its European debut alongside several new smartwatches, including the innovative Watch D2. To recap, Huawei equips the MatePad Pro 12.2 with its HiSilicon Kirin 9000S chipset, which will trail Apple, MediaTek and Qualcomm rivals like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in almost all benchmarks.
Nonetheless, Huawei's latest tablet has a few tricks up its sleeve, such as a tandem OLED display. According to the company, the 12.2-inch panel delivers up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, which is about 25% brighter than Apple's latest iPad Pro 13 (curr. $1,195 on Amazon). Moreover, the MatePad Pro 12.2's large display outputs at 2,800 x 1,840 pixels in a 3:2 aspect ratio with a 144 Hz refresh rate.
Furthermore, Huawei includes a 10,100 mAh battery that supports 100 W wired charging, a 5 Gbit/s USB Type-C port and 16 MP front-facing, 13 MP primary and 8 MP ultra-wide-angle cameras all within a 508 g and 5.5 mm thick housing. Despite all this hardware, Huawei has decided to charge €999 (~$1,115) with 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage, a keyboard cover and a PaperMatte display finish. Incidentally, Huawei offers the latter two optionally in China. Please see Huawei's website for more details.
