Some of Garmin's top smartwatches are now eligible to receive new updates. Containing over a dozen changes since a recent beta release, Beta Version 22.27 resolves numerous crashes that were said to have occurred when running older firmware.

Garmin issued a new stable update to the Fenix 8 Pro a few days ago (curr. $1,199 on Amazon). Available as System Software 21.41, the update only contained miscellaneous bug fixes and improvements. Now, the company has returned with a fresh update for beta testers.

To recap, Garmin rolled out Beta Version 22.24 to the same smartwatch and non-Pro counterparts like the Enduro 3, Fenix E and the Fenix 8. At some point, the company transitioned this rollout to v22.26, which it has now replaced with Beta Version 22.27.

Currently, Garmin estimates that it has issued v22.27 to around 50% of Beta Program participants. Thus, your Enduro 3, Fenix E, Quatix 8 or Tactix 8 may remain on an older beta update for at least another few days. Garmin has hinted that it will offer more beta updates before transitioning v22.xx firmware to its stable development channel.

As far as we can tell, the company has addressed 15 bugs between Beta Versions 22.24 and 22.27. Only 6 of these are new changes since v22.26, though. The full list of changes between v22.24 and v22.27 is as follows:

  • Fixes battery estimates when switching power modes for activities.
  • Fixes getting stuck in the map activity when doing a Sight N' Go.
  • Fixes long-press and swipe-down not working when the notification centre is disabled.
  • Fixes music app marquee stopping when resuming always display.
