Xiaomi confirms global launch for new affordable smartwatch with NFC and up to 24 days battery life

Xiaomi has shed new light on the whereabouts of the Redmi Watch 6. Announced over six months ago, the Redmi Watch 6 remained exclusive to China until late April, when it started appearing at Hungarian retailers. For reference, these listings are still live. Not only that, but some retailers are claiming to be accepting pre-orders, too.
Now, Xiaomi has added both the Redmi Watch 6 and Redmi Watch 6 NFC to its global website. On the one hand, these new listings indicate that the company plans to replace the Redmi Watch 5 (curr. $139 on Amazon) in multiple markets rather than just on a limited basis. On the other hand, it confirms that Mastercard and Visa tap-to-pay support will be available, albeit via only the dedicated 'NFC' variant.
Xiaomi's listings also reveal that both variants will come in Obsidian Black and Silver Grey finishes. Moreover, the regular Redmi Watch 6 will feature a Glacier Blue version too, which its NFC counterpart misses out on. Both variants will ship aluminium alloy frames and TPU straps that Xiaomi has designed to fit wrists measuring 135-205 mm, though.
On top of that, all Redmi Watch 6 smartwatches offer GPS and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with up to 24 days of battery life from a 550 mAh battery. Xiaomi equips its inexpensive smartwatch with a 2.07-inch AMOLED display that resolves at 432 x 514 pixels with a 60 Hz refresh rate and up to 2,000 nits peak brightness. Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not yet revealed when it will begin selling the Redmi Watch 6 or Redmi Watch 6 NFC internationally.
