Xiaomi Mix 5: Tipster delivers disappointing update on launch plans

A recent report suggested a global release of the Xiaomi Mix 5. For context, the Xiaomi Mix 4 was released in 2021. One of its key highlights was its hole-free display, made possible by an under-display camera. Since then, the non-folding Mix lineup has been dormant.
Ximitime spotted a device codenamed "Hongkong" with the model number "Q5" in the HyperOS code. The source reported that this device could be the Xiaomi Mix 5, with a potential launch across several key markets, including Europe, India, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, Russia, and China.
However, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station responding to one of the comments on their latest Weibo post has revealed that the "Q5" device uncovered in HyperOS code is not a Mix-series phone, but an entirely separate next-generation flagship. It remains unclear which device the "Q5" model number belongs to, though it is likely to be a part of the Xiaomi 18 series.
For context, the flagship Xiaomi 18 series is expected to debut in Q4 2026 in China, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipset. As for the Mix 5, it remains unclear whether Xiaomi will ever launch it. In separate news, the company is expected to release the Xiaomi 17 Max with a large 6.9-inch display and 8,000mAh battery later this month.
