Next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 lineup detailed in new leak

In September 2025, Qualcomm launched its flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It powers many high-end phones such as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, OnePlus 15, and gaming-centric phones like the RedMagic 11 Pro (curr. $799 on Amazon). Rumors suggest that Qualcomm will launch two versions in its next-generation flagship lineup: the standard 8 Elite Gen 6 and the 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.
Reputable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo has now detailed both chipsets. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is expected to carry the codename "SM8975." The tipster suggests it's built on TSMC's 2nm process and uses a 2+3+3 CPU configuration. On the graphics side, it may use an A850 GPU with 18MB of GMEM. It may support LPDDR6 memory, though LPDDR5X may also be an option, with an 8MB last-level cache.
Meanwhile, the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 is expected to have the codename "SM8950." The tipster claims that it will have the same 2nm node and the same CPU layout, but differ in other areas. It may use an A845 GPU with 12MB of GMEM instead, paired with LPDDR5X memory and a slightly smaller 6MB last-level cache. According to these leaked specifications, the major difference between the two chipsets is in the GPU and memory.
The leak also suggests that Qualcomm may launch the sub-flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 6. The tipster noted its specifications are less promising but shared no further details. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series is expected to arrive later this year, though there is no official word from Qualcomm.
