GTA 6: Spotify fuels speculation with massive billboards

The marketing machine for Grand Theft Auto VI (available for pre-order on Amazon) is slowly shifting into high gear – and Spotify apparently has a seat at the table. As photos in a recent Reddit thread show, several of the images recently shared by well-known musicians have now appeared on massive billboards. The ads have been spotted in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, among other cities.
As previously reported, Travis Scott, Future, Metro Boomin, Keith Richards, Morgan Wallen, Raúl Alejandro as well as Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso recently shared images that strongly resemble GTA 6 artwork. Times Square, for example, is now displaying the image of upside-down legs hanging from a pole that was previously shared by Travis Scott. Spotify added its own logo to the image and subsequently showed the billboards on X as well. However, the streaming service offered no explanation.
What Spotify and Rockstar Games are actually planning remains unclear. However, the billboards have fueled further speculation on Reddit. Possibilities include official playlists, new songs or a joint marketing campaign for the soundtrack and in-game radio stations. Some Reddit users are even hoping for direct Spotify integration that would allow players to listen to their own playlists in the game. What role the musicians involved will ultimately play in the game may become clear soon. After all, Travis Scott explicitly described his first teaser as “Phase 1.”
