Recently, reports about changes to Xbox Game Pass have been circulating, and they suggest the removal of cloud streaming as well as day-one games. However, that might not be entirely true, as industry insiders point out.

Xbox has made quite a lot of changes ever since the new CEO, Asha Sharma, took the reins. Some of these changes have made their way to the public, while some remain in the planning stage, though rumors and leaks have shed light on some of the latter. Particularly, a recent report claimed that day-one games and cloud gaming will be removed from Game Pass. Now, an insider has provided some clarification on the same.

Citing Forbes’s Paul Tassi, who got an official statement from Xbox about the alleged changes to Game Pass, Windows Central’s Jez Corden has explained that they are just “speculation or guesswork.”

Starting with the official statement, Tassi responded to an X post that outlined the changes supposedly coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2027. The official statement suggests Xbox doesn’t have any changes to announce today or any final plans, though it is regularly testing different Game Pass offerings.

Following the post, Corden did some digging of his own and found that Microsoft has no plans to incorporate the suggested changes to Game Pass. That said, some of the changes to Game Pass offerings, as the Xbox spokesperson mentioned, could be related to what the original post outlined. The “previously announced games” wording could suggest that while there are no plans to remove day one games from Game Pass entirely, Xbox could have some tweaks planned for the future.

Regardless, these speculated changes are said to be scheduled for 2027, so we still have a few months before anything major happens.
