Deal | 96% positive: Pragmata finally goes on sale for the first time on Steam

Pragmata essentially has two protagonists: First, there is Hugh, a member of an ill-fated investigation team sent to a lunar station to find out why communications have gone silent. Once there, however, the mission itself goes off the rails. Hugh receives help from a young android named Diana, who rescues him after the incident. Together, the two search for a way back to Earth and try to find out what actually happened on the station.

In terms of gameplay, Pragmata combines traditional third-person action with an unusual hacking system. While Hugh runs, dodges and shoots, Diana simultaneously takes care of enemy systems. Simply opening fire isn't enough: Many enemies first have to be hacked and weakened while the battle continues.

This interplay between the two protagonists is a major part of Pragmata's appeal, but it also requires quite a bit of multitasking. During firefights, players have to keep an eye on Diana's hacking at the same time. And, of course, enemies don't patiently wait for them to finish.

German gaming magazine PC Games awarded the game 8.5 out of 10 in its review, praising the innovative combat system, the likable duo of Hugh and Diana and the strong technical execution in particular. Criticism included a somewhat slow start, an unhelpful map and battles that can quickly become chaotic in hectic situations. Metacritic lists Pragmata with a Metascore of 85 and a user score of 8.7.

By far the strongest verdict, however, comes from the Steam community: 96% of more than 52,000 player reviews are positive. That's particularly encouraging in this case, as Capcom already has plenty of established franchises in its portfolio. The fact that the studio instead found such success with a new IP and a creative gameplay concept could certainly be an interesting signal for the gaming industry.

First discount on Steam

Pragmata normally costs just under $60 on Steam, but it is 20% off until September 21 and available for $47.99. According to SteamDB, this is the game's first-ever discount. There's also good news for handheld gamers: Pragmata is Steam Deck Verified.

By the way: The timing of the first Steam discount is probably no coincidence. Tokyo Game Show 2026 is currently underway, and Capcom is using the event to share news about its current games with a dedicated Spotlight.
