Bose Ultra Open Earbuds 2nd Gen: Pricing, specifications and release date officially revealed
Over two years have passed since Bose introduced its original Ultra Open Earbuds (curr. $199 on Amazon). Initially, the company released these earbuds as the Kith for Bose Ultra Open Earbuds without any visible Bose branding whatsoever. This time around, Bose has done away with collaborations entirely by launching the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) directly.
Not only that, but the new Ultra Open Earbuds price-match their predecessors at $299 in the US and €299.95 in the Eurozone. While Bose's second-generation models have not changed much visually, a few key differences exist between them and their predecessors. For instance, the Ultra Open Earbuds (2nd Gen) boast 20% longer battery life at 9 hours, compared to 7.5 hours for Bose's first generation.
Additionally, the new earbuds support Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with Snapdragon Sound (aptX) and EQ support. Moreover, the Ultra Open Earbuds 2nd Gen support Google Fast Pair, Google Find Hub and Find My Android. IPX4 certification remains though, unlike the IP54-certified Sport Open Earbuds that Bose also announced today.
The Ultra Open Earbuds 2nd Gen will be available in Black, Cherry Chocolate, Olive Green and White finishes. For some reason, Bose restricts a fifth version called 'Sky Pink' to selected markets, excluding the US.
