Set 30 years after the events of Frostpunk and developed and published by 11 bit studios, Frostpunk 2 challenges you to build your city in a post-apocalyptic and frozen world. You take on the role of the Steward, and you’ll need to expand your city to survive the winter across several chapters.

Establish different districts within your city, each dedicated to a specific function. Harvest resources such as oil and coal and obtain food to meet the needs of your citizens.

However, your population is constantly growing, and it will become more difficult to govern your city while keeping your citizens satisfied. Furthermore, they may form factions within your city. While each faction has its own ideology, they all seek to gain power, forcing you to make the right decisions and choose your allies carefully.

Finally, you'll need to redistribute heat throughout your city by enacting laws and discovering new technologies. In addition, you can play in the sandbox mode called Utopia Builder.

On Steam, it received lower ratings than its predecessor, with 74% positive reviews out of 27,075 reviews. But on Metacritic, it boasts a Metascore of 85 and a user score of 7.4. It must be said that it differs from Frostpunk, particularly when it comes to the building mechanics. The user interface seems clumsy, and some players criticize the game for focusing too much on politics. Nevertheless, the resource management is appreciated, as is the game's atmosphere. The graphics and difficulty level are also praised.

Currently, Frostpunk 2 is 50% off on Steam, bringing its price down from $44.99 to $22.49. However, according to SteamDB, this sale will end on September 28, 2026.
