GTA 6: Huge New York mural apparently kicks off final marketing phase

A photo from New York is currently making the rounds on Reddit. After massive GTA 6 billboards appeared on the roof of the Miami Heat arena, another large-scale advertisement is now going up on the side of a building at the corner of Wythe Avenue and North 11th Street in Brooklyn. The first photo shows only the initial outline, but the design is already recognizable: the Grand Theft Auto logo alongside Jason and Lucia holding weapons, framed by palm trees.

The location is particularly interesting. Rockstar reportedly used the same corner for a GTA 5 mural back in 2013, and earlier Grand Theft Auto games were also promoted with elaborate hand-painted building façades. Rather than simply being a convenient advertising spot, the Brooklyn location may therefore be a deliberate nod to a long-running Rockstar tradition. A short video has since surfaced on Reddit showing the mural taking shape. While much of the artwork is still unfinished, parts of the background have already been painted in color:

The similarities to the GTA 5 campaign do not end with the location. That mural also appeared only a few weeks before the game launched and was accompanied by a broader wave of outdoor advertising across New York. Rockstar returning to the same corner 13 years later, once again just weeks before a GTA release, is therefore fueling speculation that the company is entering the final stretch of its marketing campaign.
That is certainly how many fans on Reddit are interpreting it. With GTA 6 (available for pre-order on Amazon) only weeks away and Rockstar seemingly following a familiar playbook, hopes are growing that October could bring more promotional material – whether additional screenshots, gameplay footage or even a new trailer. For now, however, Rockstar has not announced anything of the sort.
