GTA 6 could feature ‘sex scenes’ making it a first in the franchise

Following the recent age rating leak for GTA 6, it is clear that the game will feature mature content. Different regions have their own criteria for age ratings, and countries like Australia have reportedly rated the game X 18+, suggesting a higher degree of sexual content than an R 18+ rating. Now, another PS Store region has shared the age rating with “sex scenes” in the description.

GTA games have always catered to mature audiences, as represented by the different rating organizations. ESRB, which covers North America, gave all GTA games an M 17+ rating, which means they contain, at the least, “blood, strong language, and violence,” with some games including “strong sexual content” and “use of drugs.” It is very likely for GTA 6 to receive the same judgment.

Even more sexual content?

While the PS Store in several regions has revealed the age ratings for GTA 6, New Zealand has now joined the list with a “Restricted 18” rating. This is higher than the 'Mature audiences (M)' rating given by the Te Mana Whakaatu Classifications Office, and it makes consumption of such content illegal for those under the age of 18. This type of content cannot be consumed even in the presence of a parent or guardian.

Notably, this is the same rating given to Cyberpunk 2077, which we know has sex scenes and full-frontal nudity. The same rating, however, was also given to GTA V, which does not feature the same, but fulfills other criteria for said rating. Similarly, PEGI, the rating system used by much of Europe and the United Kingdom, gave Cyberpunk 2077 a rating of 18 with the “sex” logo, just like it does with GTA 6 as per the UK PS Store.

It should also be noted that these governing bodies have not shared ratings for GTA 6 on their own platforms yet.

Does this suggest GTA 6 will have actual sex scenes, possibly. If so, it would become the first GTA game that shows sexual intercourse. And this is native to the game, unlike the Hot Coffee mod for GTA: San Andreas.
