Fiido C21 Pro and C22 Pro launch with gravel tires, remote unlocking and centrally-mounted displays
Fiido has now delivered on teasers for a new 2023 "city" e-bike with the new C21 Pro (step-over and finished in gray) and C22 Pro (green and step-through). They purport to set themselves apart from their VanMoof S3 or X3 rivals with an S200 torque sensor from Mivice. Both variants are powered by the M080 motor from the same supplier.
Fiido also touts the C21/C22 Pro as ~17.5kg "aluminum alloy frame and front fork" bikes held together with "high-quality" welds that sport "700C wheels for gravel roads". They are also equipped with 9-speed derailleur gears and have optional accessories that look like water bottles but are in fact secondary batteries that might double their ~80km (49.7-mile) "cruising" range. However, their most distinctive features might be the IP67-rated, IPS back-lit displays with a new 'scooter-style' placement.
The C21 and C22 Pro are also the first models from their company to launch compatible with the Fiido Watch, an accessory of to-be-determined specs that apparently mostly functions to allow the wearer to unlock a paired bike in response to their proximity.
Fiido notes that this new Watch's price will be set at US$100; however, those who sign up on its website for early-bird offers on the new city bike range until April 10, 2023 may get it for free, as well as US$200 off the bikes' US$1,599 starting price. For those looking for something more affordable, Fiido also now hints at the imminent release of the non-Pro C21 and C22 at US$999 each.
