The Fiido Beast is a sit-stand, off-road electric scooter with an upcoming launch on Indiegogo
Fiido is an OEM typically associated with electric bikes; however, it has now revealed that it is breaking into the e-scooter market as well. With the Beast, it has also decided to go straight for the emerging rugged-use, off-road sector to boot.
This first-gen scooter is also of the type that also comes with a seat, accompanied by a foldable handlebar-post as well as foot-rests to either side of the Beast's front wheel for this purpose. It is also equipped with a removable 48V/1,536Wh battery, secured with one of Fiido's keyless combination release systems.
The Beast will use it to power a 1,300W "dual-drive" motor and 11-inch "professional, off-road run-flat" tires over an estimated up-to-100km (or 62 miles, although this is in single drive mode only, and may drop to 43.5 miles in dual drive mode) range.
The Beast's magnesium-alloy chassis is also slated to incorporate dual hydraulic brakes and front/rear suspension. The OEM asserts that it is thus equipped to tackle going uphill to the tune of a 40% slope or less, with the necessary durability and grip required for those conditions and more.
Therefore, Fiido is pitching the ~37kg Beast as an e-vehicle that could fit into an extreme sports-oriented life as it could into a daily commute. Then again, its new Coming Soon page on Indiegogo neglects to mention ingress protection of any kind.
Perhaps its maker is saving these details for its full debut on this site, now set for mid-March 2022. (Update: Fiido now asserts that its battery, at least, is "waterproof", but has yet to mention any formal IP ratings.)
In the meantime, Fiido is hyping its launch-day early-bird deals, which might net a backer up to 38% off the normal retail price for a new Beast scooter.
