If you're in the market for a high quality no-frills laptop stand, then the Cooler Master Ergostand Air is looking like one of the most affordable and simplest solutions out there for just $35 USD on Amazon.
The manufacturer sent us a sample for our impressions and we honestly can't find very much wrong to say about it. The brushed aluminum alloy stand sits flat at just 4 mm thick and 642 grams and yet it's strong with no warping or obvious weaknesses around the joints. Cooler Master recommends laptops no larger than 15.6-inches for the Ergostand Air, but the stand has no issues whatsoever holding our 17.3-inch Maingear Vector Pro gaming laptop.
Users can angle the stand from roughly 20 degrees to a maximum of 31 degrees in five-step increments. This leads us to our biggest complaint about the Ergostand Air as its range of angles is quite narrow. Steeper angles closer to 90 degrees would have made the stand more versatile for propping up tablets, convertible laptops, or certain portable monitors like the C-Force. Cooler Master missed its chance to market the Ergostand Air to more form factors especially now that 2-in-1 laptops are becoming commonplace.
Other than that, the Ergostand Air is as barebones as it gets with no LEDs, USB ports, fans, or other extras that users may not want. It's just a sleek, thin, and sturdy stand that does its one specific job exceptionally well.
