Esel launches wooden e-bike with 80 km range and carbon wheels

Esel has officially launched the eUrban e-bike with a signature ash wood build. Unlike other e-bikes such as the Velotric Tempo and the Decathlon Rockrider E-ACTV 900 e-bikes with aluminum alloy frames, the eUrban features an Esel Hollow Tec wood frame. Speaking of weight, it weighs around 16.5 kg (36.3 lbs).
The company’s new e-bike is designed for urban riders and available in two variants, the eUrban Basic and the eUrban Performance. The basic differences between both models are weight, shifter, and tires. Speaking more precisely, the former features 28” aluminum wheels, a 10-speed Shimano Deore RD-T6000 shifter and weighs 18.5 kg (40.7 lbs), while the latter ships with 28” Pancho Craze carbon wheels, an 11-speed Shimano Deore XT RD-M8000 transmission and weighs 2 kg less than the basic.
Speaking of powered things, the e-bike is equipped with a rear wheel hub drive motor and a 350 Wh integrated battery that delivers 42 Nm of torque and 80 km (49.7 miles) of range on a single charge. The company claims that the e-bike charges from 0 to 100% in four hours. Both models boast Shimano MT410 dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes and a carbon fork, which are said to offer a smooth ride even on bumpy roads.
Available in small, medium, large, and extra-large sizes, the Esel eUrban Basic is priced at €3,999, while the eUrban Performance costs €4,999. Both models are now available via Esel’s official website.
