Casio’s new classic watch with full metal design now available in global markets

Earlier this month, Casio listed the A1000SP-7 watch on its global website. Now, the Japanese manufacturer has officially announced the availability for its latest classic watch. The A1000SP-7 watch is now available in multiple markets, including India, China, and Europe. As for price, buyers can purchase the digital watch for ₹16,995 in India, CNY 1,690 in China, and €199 in Europe, respectively. There’s no word on its US availability at the time of writing. Though the latest G-Shock Gravitymaster GWR-B3000 series is now available in the US, and you can read about it here.
First let’s talk about the design of the watch. The Casio A1000SP-7 features a stainless steel case and bracelet, which makes it heavier than a resin strap. Speaking more precisely, it measures 7.3 mm (0.28 inch) in thickness and weighs around 101 grams (0.22 lbs). Wearers are likely to feel the watch’s weight on the wrist. This time around, Casio uses a sapphire crystal for the SP models, which offers better scratch resistance than the mineral glass found on existing A1000 models.
Furthermore, the sunburst-finished brass dial is combined with striped vapor deposition on the underside of the sapphire crystal, which creates a textured and dimensional effect under different lighting. Practical features include a Super Illuminator LED backlight, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a daily alarm, an auto calendar (extends up to 2099), and an hourly time signal. Despite costing almost €199, you get a mediocre battery life. The watch is said to offer a three-year battery life on a CR1616 cell.
Unlike other Casio watches, the company is offering special packaging for the A1000SP-7 watch. The stainless steel bracelet has the combination of satin and mirror finishes, creating a contrast between matte and glassy surfaces. Like the EFK-200XPB-1A, it also has the same one-touch three-fold clasp system for the bracelet.
