New Casio Oceanus Manta limited-edition titanium watch launches in the US with limited stock

The Casio Oceanus Manta OCWS7000AP1A is up for sale in the US now, priced at $1,900. It's a few hundred dollars more than what Japanese buyers paid when it launched there earlier this year at roughly $1,660.

The watch is built around Awa indigo, which is a natural dye made in Tokushima Prefecture using methods that go back generations. Casio worked it into three mother-of-pearl sub-dials, and each of them has a slightly different shade of blue, set against a black dial. The bezel is sapphire crystal with a graduated blue vapor-deposition finish, and the whole case — titanium, 47.5 x 42.8 x 9.5mm, 83 grams — is quite light despite the amount of finishing work packed into it. The band matches in solid titanium, closed with a one-touch, slide-adjustable three-fold clasp, and fits wrists in the 150-195 mm range.

Underneath all that, it's a fairly loaded Oceanus. Tough Solar power is rated for about 5 months of normal use, or up to 19 months stored in the dark with power-saving engaged. Timekeeping stays accurate via radio sync across six global stations on Multi-Band 6. This is backed up by Bluetooth pairing with Casio's Watches app for auto time correction, easy watch setup, a phone finder, and support for roughly 300 world cities. On the dial itself, there's a 1-second stopwatch capable of measuring up to 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds, plus a day indicator and full auto-calendar programmed through 2099. Water resistance comes in at 100 meters, and the glass carries a glare-resistant coating on top of the dual-curved sapphire crystal.

There's one tiny detail worth noting for anyone comparing this to the Japanese release: the US version caps out at 800 pieces worldwide. That's smaller than Japan's 1,300-piece allocation. This likely means that this a separate, more limited run rather than simply the same batch reaching a new market.
