New Casio Pro Trek model revealed with interesting strap design, Tough Solar, Bluetooth
A new Casio Pro Trek model, the PRJ-B001EX, has just surfaced through a retailer listing ahead of what looks to be an August release, going solely by labels shown in the listing. The watch introduces a strap designed specifically around campsite habits.
According to the listing, Casio built the new band after studying how campers use small cash-based transactions, such as buying firewood, using vending machines, or paying at local stalls, even when a wallet is left behind in a vehicle. The strap uses a reversible design that can double up as a coin pocket while also protecting the watch face. This whole assembly can be detached and clipped onto a carabiner to hang from a backpack or tent interior.
That was the strap. Aside from that, the PRJ-B001EX gets the same Pro Trek feature set: Tough Solar charging, Bluetooth connectivity for Casio's Time & Place location logging, a rotating guard bezel to protect the buttons, and bio-based resin construction for reduced environmental impact.
Additional functions include dual Super Illuminator LED lighting for both the analog face and digital subdial, 100-meter water resistance, a 1/100-second stopwatch, countdown timer, 38-zone world time, and five daily alarms. The watch measures 50.3 x 46.0 x 13.6 mm and weighs 51 grams, with accuracy rated at ±15 seconds a month when not paired with a smartphone. Battery life is listed at roughly 7 months under normal use, or up to 18 months when stored in the dark with power-saving mode active.
