Casio's new limited-edition G-Shock collab has references to beloved Nintendo RPG

Adding to the recently unveiled retro-futuristic collab, Casio has announced another new G-Shock collaboration with Nintendo's Mother series. The DW-5600MOT26-9 is the third Mother x G-Shock collaboration to date, and the first in two years. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of Mother 3, a popular RPG that launched exclusively in Japan on April 20, 2006, and has never received an official Western release despite decades of fan demand.
The watch is built on the square-cased classic DW-5600 module. The color is a bright 'sunflower yellow', which is a direct reference to the sunflower field in Chapter 6 of Mother 3, one of the game's most beloved sequences. A red accent surrounds the display; again, another reference to the key color of the Mother series branding. The Mother 3 logo is printed below the dial.
When illuminated, the LED backlight reveals a pixel art sunflower field behind the time display, something Casio often does with its collaboration pieces. The rubber strap has embossed Mr. Saturn characters in various poses playing ladder games and bird fishing. The stainless steel caseback has with the word "Potential!" — as in the game's battle mechanic — alongside Nintendo and creator Shigesato Itoi's copyright markings.
Priced at ¥19,800 (approximately $122), the DW-5600MOT26-9 releases on July 17 as a Japan-exclusive lottery sale. Those interested can apply through the 1101 website.
