Ayaneo has shared more photos of its next gaming handheld release. To recap, the Ayaneo 3 will be one of the first gaming handhelds to launch with AMD's Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU alongside the OneXPlayer OneXFly F1 Pro. While the pair will perform about as well as each other thanks to the reliance on the same silicon, the Ayaneo 3 may surpass its OneXPlayer equivalent when it comes to external graphics performance.
For reference, the OneXFly F1 Pro supports eGPUs via USB4. Although a viable solution, its peak 40 Gbps transfer speed results in heavy performance losses compared to using a PCIe connection in a desktop system. By contrast, new pictures of the Ayaneo 3 show the presence of an OCuLink port, which can maintain a 64 Gbps peak transfer speed.

As a result, the AYANEO 3 could serve as a desktop alternative, provided it is paired with a desktop eGPU dock like the Minisforum DEG1. Alternatively, the gaming handheld will be compatible with various AMD Radeon RX 7600M XT-based solutions, including the GPD G1 (curr. $699.99 on Amazon), or the newer Radeon RX 7800M-based OneXGPU 2 that launched over the summer.
Moreover, the same pictures confirm that the AYANEO has a top-mounted USB Type-C port and a third set of shoulder buttons. Added to that, the device features rear-mounted RQ1 and RQ2 buttons, as well as what could be a recessed MicroSD card slot. Unfortunately, a release date remains unknown for now. AYANEO has confirmed that the device will be available with an LCD or OLED display though, plus a cheaper Ryzen 7 8840U APU variant.
