The MSI Claw received pretty poor reviews when it launched. However, a combination of updated software, some hardware positives, and a huge discount on Amazon makes it worth considering.

PC gaming handheld devices have been getting some heavy discounts lately. Last month, the Lenovo Legion Go dropped to a record-low price of $499 ($200 off its price) on Amazon, and last week, the ROG Ally, with the same Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip, dropped to $499 ($150 off) on Best Buy. Now, it is the turn of the Intel-powered MSI Claw.

The MSI Claw is available in two variants - a variant with an Intel Ultra 5-135H processor and a more powerful model with an Intel Ultra 7-155H. Thankfully, it is the latter that has received a huge discount on Amazon. Paired with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB NVMe SSD, the MSI Claw has gotten a 37% discount that takes it from its list price of $749 to a mouth-watering $471.04.

Although the MSI Claw doesn't measure up to its rivals in terms of performance, its new low price alongside some other positives makes it worth considering. For starters, the MSI Claw has received several updates that have made it better than it was at launch.

Another point to consider is that the MSI Claw has better ergonomics than its main rivals, particularly the Lenovo Legion Go which makes it more comfortable to hold for longer periods. Many reviews have also said it has better speakers than other handhelds.

While it was hard to recommend at its launch price, its discounted price of $471 makes the MSI Claw a great handheld for anyone who wants a device to run emulators, stream games, or play non-AAA modern games. With its 7-inch 120Hz screen, Hall Effect sticks, RGB lighting on sticks and ABXY buttons, Thunderbolt 4, and Wi-Fi 7, it makes for a decent handheld.
