3D Mario game may debut at Nintendo Direct, according to Ocarina of Time remake leak

Nintendo Direct showcases are set to air on September 8th and 9th. The first will honor the Zelda 40th Anniversary and likely share more about the Ocarina of Time remake. That leaves the second stream open for other first-party Switch 2 projects. According to a leaker who predicted the Directs and multiple reveals, unannounced Mario games are in development.
The mysterious malo392
While some insiders self-promote, malo392 prefers to lurk in the shadows. However, the individual has proven surprisingly reliable. In March 2026, the prognosticator listed numerous undisclosed Switch 2 games in comments under a YouTube video. At the time, they went mostly overlooked, but Nintendo later confirmed several titles.
Curiously, the YouTube leak came before the also-trustworthy NateTheHate spoiled the gaming giant’s plans on a podcast. Among the games malo392 teased were a classic Star Fox release and the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. The publisher verified the existence of both in May and June.
The user recently returned, offering a hint about the now-scheduled Nintendo Direct broadcasts. In another video, the insider said, “Next week, a double appointment for Nintendo/Zelda fans.”
The leak that keeps on giving
Followers are studying the original leak, which alleges that a 3D Mario game is due in 2027. In addition, viewers could see a fresh Wario Land adventure, likely targeting 2027 as well. It’s far from guaranteed that they will emerge on September 9th. Nevertheless, Nintendo may provide the first glimpse of at least one of the candidates.
NateTheHate also reported that, nearly a decade after Super Mario Odyssey debuted, a new 3D Mario title featuring the celebrated plumber was in the works. Unfortunately, he didn’t discuss many other details about the potential open-world experience.
Meanwhile, the 2008 Wario Land: Shake It! was the last traditional platformer centered around Mario’s nemesis. WarioWare: Move It! arrived as a party attraction in 2023. Beyond these characters, malo392’s list mentions an original Star Fox Switch 2 game. Another candidate for the Nintendo Direct is a Super Metroid remake.
